- Description
Niels and Ragnhild Hansen's newly built house at Whakarongo, situated nearly opposite James Line with the bush line beyond. Niels, an immigrant from Denmark, met and married Ragnihild Gudmensen in Palmerston North in 1884. They moved to this house from a cottage on the same section, in the Scandinavian block, in 1893. The house was occupied by Sid Leader and his family in 1993. From left: Ingebord; Ragnhild holding baby Ragnhild, Marie, Lily and Niels.
